The latest sermon in the Luke series is up: “How Satan and Judas Fulfilled the Will of God” (Luke 22:1-6).
Why did Judas do what he did? Why was Satan trying to get Jesus killed, even though he knew that it would spell his end? And where was God in the whole thing?

The latest sermon in the Luke series has been uploaded: “The End Is Near! Don’t Change a Thing!” (Luke 21:5-38).
Many people wonder about or are sometimes downright obsessed with the end of time. How should we think about that? What should we do in light of the fact that there will be an end to history?

On January 11, we will begin a new Bible study through Paul’s letter to the Romans. We are calling the study Theology Unplugged: it is a no frills, bring-your-Bible-and-let’s-get-to-work study of the truth. Everyone is welcome to come on out on Mondays at 7:00 at Christ Community Church, 4310 H Street, Blaine, WA.
To this end, we have launched a new website: Theology Unplugged. It will contain study helps and other things that I think might be of use to those at the study.
See you on the 11th.

Sorry for the lack of sermon updates. The backlog has now been cleared. Here is the latest from the Luke series: “The Triumphal Entry: An Unexpected and Glorious Victory” (Luke 19:28-48).
How is it that we can call Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem a triumph? He was rejected, beaten, and then killed. By any human measurement, it was a failure. Here we exam just how wonderful a triumph it was.
Also, the December 27 sermon from Luke 19:11-27 (“Good Stewardship: What Are We Doing with God’s Stuff?”) has been uploaded.

We have a new series going on at CCC: Jesus vs. Christmas. Of course, since I am a week late in posting this, the series is presently two-thirds done. But, fear not, we have the internet! The first two sermons in the series are up: “Jesus vs. Santa Claus” (John 1:14) and “Jesus vs. Family” (Mark 3:31-35).
The series is not of the traditional, Santa-is-evil, Christmas-trees-are-of-the-devil variety. Rather, as I say in the sermons, I fear that we allow the good things of Christmas (gift giving, time with family, etc.) to distract us from the greatest thing at Christmas (the Incarnation of the Son of God). My prayer is that these sermons will serve as a call to realize and rejoice in the true meaning of Christmas.
We finish the series next week with “Jesus vs. World Peace.”
